Market Outlook of Sabah

The state of Sabah has been enjoying sustained economic growth in the last decade given the continued growth of its primary industries and tourism sectors. As reported in the 2007 Budget Speech by the Right Honourable Chief Minister/Minister of Finance, Datuk Musa Haji Aman on 24 November 2006, the state's economy had shown an upward growth trend from the range of 5.1% under the Eighth Malaysia Plan to the range of 6% to 7% under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.

In the next five years as per the Ninth Malaysia Plan, Sabah's economic growth is expected to continue to grow rapidly given the Government's intent to make Sabah a developed state in Malaysia by 2015. Various budget allocations have been made to stimulate agriculture, manufacture, and tourism industries as well as to upgrade current infrastructures and carry out ambitious urbanisation projects.
